Wikipedia has the notion of "Wikipedian in residence" where some institution (such as a library or learned society) has someone who is designated to contribute that instition's knowledge to Wikipedia.
This introduces some problems, given that Wikipedia has strict notability guidelines, and also guidelines about contributor bias.
With WeWrite, everyone can have their own constellation of ideas, and they can also spin up as many Communities of interest as they'd like.
Furthermore, the "Wikipedian in residence" notion correctly hints at the fact that editing Wikipedia is a pain in the ass, and thus a specialist is needed to do so effectively. WeWrite intends to be as simple and easy as possible, so that all 8 billion people on this planet would be their own "WeWritian in residence" (the institution in question would thus become humanity as a whole, and its billions of little social groups)
